Part 1: HTC Hero Review

ZunePH is a technology blog featuring anything on tech, gadgets and the web. If you are reading this and wondering where the Zune articles are, try clicking one of the categories on the right. Thanks!

HTC, as far as I consider them, is the only asian mobile company that is seriously giving Apple a run for its money. Samsung, LG and other asian phones is no match with what HTC has been doing in terms of hardware design and software R&D (HTC Sense UI). HTC is dealing with 3 O'S’s at the moment – Android (Sense UI skin), Windows Mobile 6.5 (Sense UI Skin) and Brew Mobile Platform. They are also going to fully support Windows Phone 7 Series.

They are so good that even Google allied with them to produce the Nexus One (a.k.a Google Phone) which prompted Apple to sue them over patents. Should Apple be threatened? is it an iPhone killer? My impressions and my part 1 review after the jump. (Warning: It’s gonna be a long read)

HTC Hero: Going Android

After many many years of using dumbphones and a couple of smartphones by Nokia. I thought that I needed to get out of the ailing Symbian OS and move to a newver next-gen mobile OS. Windows Mobile? No. (WP7S probably).. iPhone OS? too expensive and closed. Google’s Android OS seemed like a good choice with it’s app marketplace that is open and mostly free. The fact that I could multitask and run flash. Plus the variety of handsets I could choose. HTC, Motorola, Samsung. etc.. made it a clear choice for me.

Had this for just 3 days and so far it's looking good. Planning to write a review of HTC Hero and Android as soon as I can

New Zune shirt? Anyone?

Thinking of creating a new limited Zune Philippines shirt again. No design yet right now. Just asking. What type of zune shirt will you buy? Any ideas? It won’t necessarily have ZunePH-related wordings or any other graphics on this blog or the above graphic. Pure ZUNE and MICROSOFT geek-themes would be better.

Sound off in the comment section if you’re interested and let’s make this a reality! I already have an idea and will show it if this pushes through.

My Zune HD died on me

Yesterday, I was playing around with my Zune HD when it suddenly just shut down itself. Blank Screen. No response on the buttons. In other words, it seemed like I have a bricked Zune HD in my hand. Without me doing anything really that strenuous and stupid to brick it.

So I tried unplugging and plugging it again on my usb port, the computer detected it basing from the notify sound when you plug in a device. But still no response from the device. It was not a battery issue as I had it full and plugged-in when it died on me. I then tried plugging it on a direct AC socket using the Zune Adapter I got from the Zune AV Dock  thinking it may have more kick to it coming directly from a power brick. Still nothing.

The Suze Orman Show: “Mark Z” wants advise on buying Twitter

Funny video made for The Shorty Awards. Does Suze Orman approve or deny the caller “Mark Z” (in reference to Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook)  in her show’s “Can I Afford” It portion?
