Will gaming on the Zune HD be kinda awkward?

Update: I know that there are no games, even apps available on the Zune HD yet, just thinking “what if”

When I was looking at the photos of the iPod Touch I noticed that the device is perfect for gaming as the LCD screen’s orientation and position is similar to other handheld consoles like the Sony PSP and Nintendo Ds Lite. All of them have centered screens in landscape mode.

The Zune HD’s OLED screen, on the other hand, is centered in portrait mode but NOT in landscape mode. You can notice above the right thumb has way to much space while the left thumb has no choice but to hold the screen.

I think this poses a problem when playing games on landscape mode as the left hand would have a problem holding on to something that does not respond to touch. I’m a gamer on my iPod Touch but I always find myself accidentally hitting some screen menus and options that I don’t want to, this is while holding the iPod like a NES controller (not like the photo above)

This “problem” can be easily addressed though by adjusting the interface and gaming controls. But still, it does look awkward…well to me it is. What do you think?

Zune HD Retail Price Rumor

According to a leaked (again) Best Buy inventory, the Zune HD 16GB will sell for $220 and the 32GB will be sold for $290 on September 8.

Let’s compare the Zune HD price to current iPod Touch 2G.

These are the current pricing of Apple iPod based on apple.com. However, with the rumored release of iPod Touch 3G with camera features and faster processing power, these prices may change come September and may adjust accordingly. And if the new iPod does really pack a camera (which seemingly it will) then the Zune will be in for a tough competition. Compare HD resolution and HD radio versus the camera feature, which one do you think the consumer would bite at?

If Microsoft could sell the Zune HD at a lower price considering it has OLED, Tegra and SSD’s, I wonder how much the price drop will be in Apple’s camp come this September..

Zune HD Video Demo from gdgt party

This was taken from Gdgt’s launch party at San Francisco. Not the best video out there but I’ll take any trickle of Zune HD news. :)

I’m wondering… will the Zune HD allow wallpapers on the home screen similar to the old Zunes and the iPod Touch? So far all photos of the Zune HD show black screen with the text interface on it. It would be a sorry waste for the crisp OLED screen if all we would see would just be white texts.
