Cowon X9’s Metro-inspired UI falls flat

Cowon X9 media player has a noticeable familiar interface with boxes and clean grid layout. It appears to be inspired by Microsoft’s Metro Modern UI and looks good doing it. However videos of actual users seem to show that the UI feels laggy and flat. It doesn’t have that enough refined touches that make it different or even better than Metro.

The Cowon X9 has decent specs for a media player. It has 4.3” touch display with built-in speaker, voice recorder, flash player, radio and dictionary. It supports expandable storage via SD card slot and can run for 110 hours on music and 13 hours on video. It also has extra applications like calculator, notepad, and stopwatch which might be helpful if you don’t already own a smartphone.
