Google Play merges Android Marketplace apps, books, music and videos

Google has just launched Google Play – a collective umbrella for anything movies, music, apps and games, and books.

Google Play also seemed to have been “inspired” from the Zune branding. The colored gradients and even the Zune logo makes an appearance on the site’s home page. They’ve also taken the Zune Social sharing and implemented it via Google+.

What’s weird is that Android Marketplace sounded logically better than Google Play which itself sounds like a gaming hub for something.
